Carmarthen Tree Nursery specialises in growing strong, healthy native trees and shrubs from seed collected locally wherever possible (local provenance).
Trees and shrubs will grow better when started from seed that was collected from the same region where the seedlings are to be established. So if you wish to plant native trees and shrubs, then try to purchase seedlings from a Nursery that has used seed of local provenance. The term 'provenance' in this context means the general area/zone where the seed was collected, and should not be confused with origin.
Research has shown that such seedlings are better suited to that environment and as a result should grow quicker and more strongly.
General planting guidelines suggest that tree and shrub seedlings produced from the correct seed provenance should be used wherever possible. Where local provenance is not available, (with some exceptions), stock produced from British seed should always be used in preference to foreign seed sources. If you would like us to quote for the supply of seedlings, please use our quotation request form.

Most tree seedling nurseries know where their seed was collected from... do ask.
